Details

Perhaps the first complete operatic setting of a Shakespeare play, The Comedy of Errors combines the genius of the formidable Lorenzo da Ponte with the dynamic music of Mozart's English protege, the remarkable Stephen Storace (1762-96). From the opening storm and shipwreck, through the mayhem of confusions caused by identical twins, to ultimate enlightenment, Storace's Figaro-like score bubbles over with brilliant energy and glorious melody.
