T01039806590 (ARTRIX11)Beauty And The Beast is a dramatic pantomime full of song and dance, traditional slapstick, corny jokes and general silliness, it contains wonderfully colourful characters who will take you on a magical journey into pantoland...... Our beautiful heroine, Belle, lives in the village of Yeastville with her impoverished father Mr Cobb the baker and her older sisters Chardonnay and Lambrini, both of whom are mean and ugly. You will meet the vain and egotistical Victor Vandare and the spoiled but good-natured Prince Rupert who both have designs on Belle. We see the good Fairy Rosebud make a bet with the evil Witch Greenfly that she could make any two people fall in love, Rosebud chooses Belle and Greenfly chooses Prince Rupert, however when Belle and the Prince meet, sparks start to fly. Afraid she will lose her bet Greenfly uses her evil magic and turns the Prince into a hideous snarling Beast. Join Crouton the dough boy, Mrs Potts the housekeeper, Gaston the Beast's servant and all the villagers (Whoops, I almost forgot....And Kingsmill the Pantomime Horse) in this wonderful traditional pantomime which will warm even the coldest of hearts.

T01572031039 (REGENTCHRIST11)HCP marks its 40th anniversary with its first production for 15 years of this classic fairytale about a kindly monster - in reality a transformed handsome Prince - and his love for a beautiful young girl, more recently made popular through Disney’s animated film and stage musical. But David Swan’s imaginative script gives us a delicious new twist to this enchanting tale of fear and romance. Set in France, it plants us firmly in panto land with a magical Fairy, traditional Dame (Widow Bonbon and her Bonbon Kids - Sherbet Candy and Flossy), good and evil Princes and even two dim-witted traffic wardens, Nosey Parker and Kirby Crawler. Not forgetting Gigi, the pantomime horse. Will good triumph over evil? Will the Beast find true love? It’s the perfect recipe to showcase the award winning Charity Players much loved panto ingredients - fabulous costumes, sumptuous sets, great song and dance routines, plus the usual happy quota of knockabout humour and audience participation. Once again, panto at its finest and funniest! Oh, yes it is!Company Highcliffe Charity Players.

T0674223496 (CHELTENHAMPLAY08)50th anniversary production. The familiar tale of Belle and The Beast is this year’s summer pantomime - a musical comedy treat for the whole family! 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of Cheltenham Children’s Theatre Association (CCTA). It has performed a production, usually a musical, here at The Playhouse every summer since 1958. The youngsters handle every aspect of the show from acting and directing to lighting and set building, rehearsing every day before the production during school holidays. They also meet on occasional Sundays throughout the year to improve their skills. We believe that CCTA is still the only non-professional theatre company in the UK that is entirely run by and for young people 18 and under. Many existing adult members of the theatre started out with CCTA and some former members now work in the professional theatre industry. The Playhouse is extremely proud to have been instrumental in the formation of this company and to have supported the successful productions the children have presented for so many years.Producer Cheltenham Children's Theatre Association (CCTA). T01689965610 (WHELL00)Wheelhouse Productions' ambitious new season at the Colour House Theatre kicks off with a handsome, if untypical retelling of Beauty and the Beast. The hideous Beast lives in his big mansion with his housekeeper, isolated by a curse until Guiseppe seeks shelter from a storm. Provided with food and shelter, Guiseppe repays the beast's kindness by taking a rose from his garden. The beast strikes a terrible bargain with him. He must return with the first thing he sees when he gets home. His kind and gentle daughter, Beauty must be taken to the beast. Will she be able to see behind his grotesque features, to the kind heart within and break the curse? A fantastic story involving magic mirrors, talking animals and fabulous songs. We continue the magical, colourful and acclaimed children's theatre style using professional actors, song, dance, puppetry and of course our own favourite owl, Tony, who has entertained thousands of families over the last five years.Author Shaun Hennessy.
