Christmas is not Christmas without panto, and this year the By Jove Theatre Company brings you an unusual twist on the usual formula. Pride & Prejudice: The Panto gives the audience the classic Jane Austen tale of passion, scandal and wet shirts leaping off the page into the absurd world of pantomime. Complete with a host of recognisable characters, Pride & Prejudice: The Panto results in an evening of raucous entertainment and notorious fun; guaranteeing a great night out for lovers of the book, the series, the films, or simply those looking for some pre-Christmas cheer. Pride & Prejudice: The Panto is By Jove's third full-scale theatrical venture. Starting with Jane Austen's romance narrative and adapting it to the traditional pantomime formula, By Jove have created a show that parodies both genres. Very much a tongue-in-cheek event, the show sees the world of literature and panto collides into the resulting mix of camp, comedy and cultural references. The narrative plays out as a battle between Jane Austen and Charles Dickens to see who can be the greatest author of all time, casting them as the traditional panto good and bad fairy respectively. The show also features a live band playing a host of Regency covers of some very familiar tunes. Recommended for ages 15+
