Vacuum/Situation with Outstretched Arm/Overload - T0934515449

Experience the highlights of the 2016 festival with three exceptional shows from Italy, Germany & Switzerland each lasting 30 minutes. Vaccum - A transcendental performance created by Philippe Saire, one of Europe's leading exponents of experimental choreography where movement and visual arts converge and bodies weave through black holes and shards of dazzling light. The slo-mo optical canvas mesmerises as two male forms float through a vacuum created in space. Situation with Outstretched Arm - The saluto Romano, the olympic salute, the Bellamy Salute or in its most common form, the Hitler Salute. One of the most powerful and violent symbols of the twentieth century is re-contextualised on stage through physical performance and essay. The German production takes a unique cross-disciplined approach to a controversial subject, one that has re-emerged across Europe in extremist organisations. Overload - Overload is a fast paced and explosive physical theatre performance by four Italians intent on dissecting the noisy interruptions that bombard our day to day lives. Through a witty narrative, the show jumps from one distraction to another analysing the feelings triggered by something ending prematurely and our perpetual sense of confusion.

#sobrejulieta/Quintetto/The Whistle - T376758228

BE FESTIVAL champions emerging theatre, dance and circus artists from across Europe with an annual programme presented in Birmingham. Catch highlights from this year's edition as three daring solo performers play with audience expectation. After the shows there is an opportunity to enjoy an informal chat with the artists during a convivial dinner in the Green Room. A humorous and honest one-woman show about love, chemistry and excess, #sobrejulieta sees Carlota Gavi?o from Madrid try to win hearts in this stripped-back new take on Romeo and Juliet. Italian company TIDA needs t o stage a dance production but is bereft of cast and crew thanks to the financial crisis. Still, the show must go on, so willing audience members are recruited to take on various duties with hilarious results. A razor-sharp comedy, Quintetto was BE FESTIVAL's 2015 first prize award-winner. Irish performer Darragh McLoughlin invites spectators to determine what they watch, prompting their eyes to open and close during a multitude of rapid scene changes. The Whistle is packed with deft circus skills and underpinned by a hidden narrative.

Solfatara by A Tres Bandes (Catalunia) BE 2012 Winner of 1st Prize & Audience Prize - What happens when your fear comes round for dinner, and your deepest, darkest thoughts refuse to lie low? Solftara - a term for the volatile openings in volcanic terrain - similarly explores the phenomena that allows our insides to come to the surface. A Tres Bandes was founded three years ago by actors Albert P?rez Hidalgo, Miquel Segovia and M?nica Almirall in Barcelona. They attempt to discover everyday contradictions and share them with the audience. L'Absent by La Compagnie du Geste qui Sauve (Belgium) BE 2012 Winner of Best Physicality - A woman lives alone, though haunted by an absence: that of the man who shared her life before death.
