Details

Voices of Partition is about the tragic events surrounding the Partition of British India in 1947 and explores the legacy and memory of Partition. The project is being marked with six monthly Sangat Theatre Debates at Chapter. Sangat is a Panjabi word meaning coming together and discussing strategies for liberation. It comes from sang meaning ‘coming together’ and gat - liberation. A principle aim of the theatre debates is to foster a spirit of reconciliation and healing between British Panjabi people of Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Sikh backgrounds and all other communities who have suffered the consequences of partitions.
