An England international footballer, Gascoigne is particularly remembered for his England caps. He earned 57 appearances for his country and is described by the National Football Museum as "the most naturally gifted English midfielder of his generation." Gazza - as he is affectionately known by sports fans - was part of the squad that reached fourth place in the 1990 World Cup, where he was famously reduced to tears after receiving a yellow card in the semi-final with West Germany, meaning he would be suspended for the final itself, had England won the game. The former Everton player also helped the England team to the semi-finals of Euro 1996; once again embedding himself in the nation's hearts and minds with a spectacular goal against Scotland - coupled with the memorable "Dentist's Chair" goal celebration! After retiring from professional football, Gazza's life became dominated by emotional problems, including alcoholism and depression. Hear him speak from the heart about his amazing career, and his gigantic ups and massive downs since retiring from football and his personal struggles that have received regular coverage in the British press. He has attempted to live without alcohol on numerous occasions, though rehabilitation programmes have provided only temporary relief. Gazza's shows are currently receiving great acclaim around the UK and as one of Britain's best loved sportsmen, he proves he still has lots to offer his fans.
