In Strood s 13th century manor, two Kent based companies are creating a large scale, site specific performance that clings to the walls, hangs from the ceilings and stretches across the floors. The promenade performance invites the audience to explore with all their senses by playing with light and darkness, using projections, sound installations and live dancers who dart in and out of the shadows. Visitors will be led round the building in small groups, as well as left to soak up the atmosphere in the undercroft. Light and Shadow is the sixth and last commission of the Encounter programme, which began in July. Encounter has seen temporary, site-specific installations appearing in hidden and underused spaces across North Kent. Temple Manor, part of English Heritage, now stands on an industrial estate in Strood. The sixth and final site-specific installation of the Encounter programme.
