London Road documents the events of 2006, when the quiet rural town of Ipswich was shattered by the discovery of the bodies of five women. Alecky Blythe's verbatim script recreates the actual speech of a community caught up in a catastrophe: serial killing. What strikes you first is the incongruous clash of colloquial speech and choral singing. The effect can be highly comical, but you don't always feel comfortable laughing.
