Details

From the 18th century exploitation of metal ores to the virtual annihilation of deep coal mining in the 1980s, the south Wales coalfield has been shaped by both conflict and solidarity. The region has been transformed through migration, a process contributing significantly to 'Welsh' national stereotypes. Ambient field recordings from two focal points within local communities across the coalfields, the market and the 'Brachi', are combined to create an aural 'snap-shop' of an area once more in a state of flux.
