2006! - The Disappearance/The Rose Garden/There Was A Man Dwelt By A Churchyard/Normal - T80625051

The Disappearance has been adapted from the James tale by Daragh Carville (winner of the 1997 Stewart Parker Award and the 1998 Meyer-Whitworth Prize), while Terror Season favourite William Stewart (adaptor of HP Lovecraft's Reanimator in 2004) will present a new version of James' chiller The Rose Garden for Natural Perspectives Theatre Company. MR James adaptations will play over Halloween including Sean McCann's version of There Was A Man Dwelt By A Churchyard. The season ventures into even darker terrain with a revival of Anthony Neilson's first play - Normal, a shocking and controversial exploration into the mind of Peter Kurten - the Dusseldorf Ripper of the 1930's. Directed by Bill Buckhurst.Company The Sticking Place.

The season will feature poetry, puppetry and a host of spine-tingling thrillers to celebrate the most basic human emotion of terror. Highlights include productions of DeSade by [Darren Ormandy], The Red Room by HG Wells adapted and directed by [Justin Butcher], The Premature Burial by Edgar Allan Poe adapted by [Adam Meggido], The End of the Party by Graham Greene adapted by [William Stewart], Ambrose Bierce s My Favourite Murder adapted by Jamie Stewart, and The Witch Of Coos, Robert Frost s poetic chiller, directed by [Ben Nealon]. The programme will change from October 25, with productions of Workprint by [Sean McCann] and The Monkey¹s Paw in a new adaptation by [Marcus Daley] from the classic tale by WW Jacobs. On Monday October 31 there is a Halloween Special including magic, poetry and The Society of Wonders. Throughout the season there will also be curtain raisers, cabaret, other oddities, and contemporary puppet shows in a Dark Third Act devised and directed by [Matt Peover].Company The Sticking Place.
