The Close To Home Show, is an evening of music and storytelling celebrating the work and influence of Shelagh Delaney. Contemporary music ensemble Thumb (conducted by Dan Watson) and Salford Theatre Company will perform "All About And To A Female Artist" composed by Stuart Stevens with text by Shelagh Delaney. This collage of adverse reviews and begging/threatening letters was assembled by Shelagh Delaney from real reviews and postbag she received following the debut of A Taste Of Honey. This recycled gem has been further upcycled to produce something that's not musical theatre, nor opera, nor concert, nor play, but has bits of all of them - and with specially built instruments and Stevens' engaging and unusual soundscapes, you can expect something you have never heard/seen before. The show also features drama by Salford Arts Theatre Technique and Performance Class, other Delaney-related music and a performance of the winning story from the Shelagh Delaney Day writing competition.
