Details

Join artists from the queer and trans communities for a reflective and inspirational evening of performance that deconstructs myths and challenges ideas on gender, sexuality and inclusion. Curated by and featuring CN Lester, an influential singer-songwriter and activist, the Transpose series, now in its fifth year, arrives at the Barbican for the first time. Featuring spoken word, mixed media, original music and video art, it is raw, hard-hitting, sometimes funny and ultimately cathartic. Alongside Lester, creative voices include the wave-making Barbican Young Poet Travis Alabanza and Andra Simons, a Bermudian who blends narrative, film, myth and body into attention-grabbing pieces. Guardian columnist Juliet Jacques delves into alternative storytelling while five-piece experimental band, They They Theys, plays live. Leave all assumptions behind ? everyone is welcome to Transpose.
