This tender, bittersweet comedy is the extraordinary true story of a vivacious New York writer and a London bookseller. Through their letters and passion for books, they share a remarkable transatlantic romance spanning 20 years; their friendship blossoms into love through their funny and often intimate correspondence. Their exchange of letters not only became a chronicle of an era from late 1940s Britain to the Beatles' invasion in the 1960s, but also a record of a passionate love story. Their deeply touching relationship was captured in the highly successful film version starring Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins.
