A Midsummer Night's Dream from the East archiveAll of Shakespeare s main characters are represented but there are subtle changes as Korean folklore breathes new magic into this much loved tale. The fairies become the mischievously humorous Dokkebi goblins with their queen having her husband fall for Bottom (an elderly woman transformed into a pig). Puck is played by two actors, at times manoeuvring as a single body and at others dividing into a double act. The tangled tale is told by a cast of eleven skillful performers and spun out through a fresh mix of dance, voice, percussion, and performances bursting with mischief and boundless energy. A unique opportunity to experience wonderful theatre from the other side of the world, this hilarious, fun-packed Edinburgh hit will delight and captivate both adults and children alike.
