After the Bell is a darkly funny comedy that takes place in the Surrey home of recently deceased theatrical agent and angel, Sam Bloom. The play begins as his widow, beautiful actress Avril Lancaster, and his family and close friends arrive to fulfil Sam's last wish - the reading of his will. As the will is read Sam's life is laid bare and as revelation follows revelation and surprise eclipses surprise, relationships disintegrate, marriages fall apart and everyone finally gets what they deserve. No angel after all then, was Sam. But who is the quiet stranger?
