Aiming at Earth

Scotland Road at the start of the 60s and the Rooney family are preparing for a wedding. A trio of Mary Ellens dispense humour while Father Quigley tries to fathom the true nature of sin. The chaotic lifestyle of these descendants of Irish immigrants is muted by the arrival of Mr Mc Lennane, a retired seaman. With his calm presence, he dispenses tales of his travels and his West Indies heritage. The young people listen to Mr Mc Lennane while the elders offer a half hearted acceptance. Until now the people of the area had not been confronted with their dormant racism. Father Quigley eventually discovers that the most grievous sin is not one that can be understood - or easily absolved.
