A joint initiative by Age Concern and Square Chapel, As Time Goes By is a play on the theme of safety in the home. It aims to raise awareness about how to prevent accidents in the home, and gives information on how to gain access to local health and social services. The story charts a year in the life of Kath, a 77 year old widow, who has suffered a fall and a subsequent hip operation. Fearful of losing her much valued independence, she has stubbornly refused all offers of assistance. Gradually, Kath begins to recognise that change and acceptance of help can bring their own rewards, and that she can still remain independent.
