Brideshead Revisited

Brideshead RevisitedT01152114140
It's 1943 and finding himself in familiar territory within the English countryside, Charles Ryder confronts memories of his first youthful encounter with Brideshead Manor and with its assortment of eccentric inhabitants. In the acclaimed playwright Bryony Lavery's sparkling new reimagining of the classic novel, the past and the present blur as Charles recalls those heady days at Brideshead and Lord and Lady Marchmain along with their offspring, Julia, Cordelia and Sebastian Flyte re-emerge...
Book by Evelyn Waugh

User Review: 25Apr16: Characters walk across the black stage before 'curtain' up. Then a puff of the smoke floats in - presumably to denote 'the olden days'... The script was good, but the setting was plain black or a coloured cyclorama, so the glory of the astonishing house was left to our imaginations The staging meant chairs brought on, with a huge mike on a stand, a few lines spoken, then on to something else. It felt like watching a radio play being recorded. Good performances, but the poor actors were wasted with this review-style presentation.
