Calvino: An Experiment
T1283904115
The Nobel Prize-winning Italian novelist Italo Calvino was obsessed with traditional Italian storytelling. He did for Italian folk tales what the Brothers Grimm did for the German ones. gathering a definitive volume of strange, cruel and magical tales into a single volume which is now available in Penguin. For this one-night experiment we have assembled a team of video and projection artists to work with a musician, a dancer and a poet. Together they will retell some of Calvino's tales using contemporary mixed media familiar from the worlds of club, animation and rave. This may contribute to the development of a full-length adaptation of Calvino's tales one Christmas in the future.
