Christine

T01475567284
It is South Africa during the Apartheid years. Philip and Kay Keebler have been living with a terrifying secret. The South African Truth & Reconciliation Commission are interrogating Philip Keebler - will they pardon or condemn him? (Writer, Dirk de Villiers now in his 80th year was inspired to write Christine because of a life-changing incident in Cape Town. He recalls. 'A black woman was struggling with a heavy suitcase, I instinctively sprinted forward to help her, but slowed down and stopped. At this time the mere suspicion of an association with a 'coloured' person could land one in jail for months. The incident deeply affected me. I realised how laws could batter civilized instincts. The same day I decided to leave Cape Town for Britain. I am still haunted')
Author Dirk de Villiers
