It's May 1st 1997, New Labour sweeps to victory throughout the country and Paul Grey is elected city councillor. A man of principle rather than career politician, the celebrations are short-lived. As the champagne corks pop, Grey discovers that his teenage daughter has disappeared. A political thriller 'Dissent' explores the emotions which fuel and surround ambition. The play examines the conflict between traditional party-politics and single-issue activism, set in the heady summer between the hopes of a Labour victory and the dramatic events of a Paris motorway underpass.
