Down/Out
T1201825152
Down/Out reacts to the netherworld of tramping and poverty evoked in George Orwell's Down and Out in Paris and London and Jack London's People of the Abyss. The production considers the ethics and accuracy of these famous accounts of homelessness by interspersing quotation from these and other works with contemporary testimony of real homelessness by the cast. Video clips and projected photographs further explore themes of exploitation and further question the nature of artistic voyeurism.
