Fermentation is the story of Odissa, a young French writer who falls pregnant to enigmatic and swarthy fire-eater Serge. A sweltering heat wave enshrouds the country and a refuse strike finds the streets littered with festering piles of rubbish. The heat and stench and a growing craving for cheese combine to have a curious effect of Odissa, her reveries leading her into a sexual fantasy world at once shocking and beautiful. A chance encounter with an avuncular cheesemonger begins Odissa's education in the magical world of cheese-making until she issues forth the fruit of her own labour. Her own hand-made babe. Not suitable for under 18's.
