Fleshfly
T0249167888
An adaptation of Ben Johnson's Volpone. A classic satire on greed that's been given a fresh treatment in this fast and furious version of Jonson's darkly comic masterpiece. Volpone, a wealthy Venetian without legitimate heirs, feigns terminal illness in order to secure bribes from greedy well-wishers who compete to inherit his gold. Encouraged by his wily servant, Mosca, the fleshfly, Volpone delights in his cunning until both go too far and all schemers get their come-uppance. This highly visual production preserves the style and language of the original, adding contemporary touches to make it relevant for a modern audience.
