A pertinent tale of an army lawyer who is defending a young private, charged for desertion during WW1. The prisoner’s devastating experience on the front changes the lawyer’s outlook on war and a passionate compulsion to save him from the firing squad begins. The tale of this unlikely hero cannily exposes the impact of war, past and present.
