London, 21st century. Emile needs privacy. He is unable to communicate with people but has convinced himself that he doesn't need society anymore. Across the corridor lives Ms Rysova, his middle-aged landlady, with whom he nurtures a strange, affectionate yet repulsive relationship. When, to his complete dismay, circumstances force him to accept a new housemate, Helena, his life takes a positive turn; he falls in love and for a brief moment he is happy. But, of course, violence and misery are in the post. The Play captures the struggles of solitary existence in the overpopulated city. This is a dark but passionate investigation of the modern shared household by showing the unfathomable relationships between four characters.
