Shutter up the windows, dim the candles, and settle by the fire for a Christmas ghost story, told by no less than Charles Dickens. Here are three of Dickens' Christmas ghost stories: not only A Christmas Carol, but The Chimes and The Haunted Man. Their words unlock a world teeming with goblin-infested bells - with dark and shadowy doubles - with Ghosts of Christmases Past and Present and Yet To Come. These tales chill the marrow and tickle the funny bone, but always they enchant, as only the works of a master storyteller can. One ghost story is told each night.Performer James Swanton.

Shutter up the windows, dim the candles, and settle by the fire for a Christmas ghost story, told by no less a master than Charles Dickens. The ghost stories are performed by James Swanton, who took Dickens to the West End's Trafalgar Studios in the acclaimed Sikes & Nancy ('fantastical... remarkable... startling and enthralling' - Simon Callow) and has also performed all five of the Christmas Books at London's Charles Dickens Museum ('extraordinary... superb... it couldn't have been more vivid!' - Miriam Margolyes). James won Outstanding Performing Artist in the 2018 York Culture Awards, and his previous season of Dickens at York Medical Society enjoyed sell-out success. This promises to be a seasonal treat like no other. For these ghost stories are the very spirit of Christmas: enchanting, exuberant, and ultimately redemptive. One ghost story is told each night - Dec 17,19,21 Dec A Christmas Carol. 18 Dec The Chimes. 20 Dec The Haunted Man.Performer James Swanton.

A Warning to the Curious: Two Ghost Stories by M R James - T114760313

James first performed them to friends at Christmas in King's College, Cambridge. Now, over a century after their first publication, Nunkie Theatre Company have bought two of the eeriest and most entertaining of these masterpieces back to life in a gripping one-man show. Lost Hearts was among the first stories the author wrote and it offers one of his most memorable villains, the predatory scholar Mr Abney. It is paired here with perhaps James's most poignant and personal work: A Warning to the Curious, in which a young archaeologist is haunted and hunted by the guardian of an ancient treasure.Company Nunkie Theatre Company.
