Joe Bonaparte is a talented musician from a poor family who turns his back on music, becomes a boxer and stakes everything on a shot at the title. For Tom Moddy - a boxing promoter who's seen better times - Joe is his one way ticket to the American Dream with his fiancée, Lorna Moon. But Lorna has fallen in love with Joe.
