Production details

Spring 1916 - near the river Somme. A group of disheartened and war-weary British soldiers are living through the worst of the First World War. Out of the depths of despair and the knowledge that a big battle is imminent, these soldiers retell the mythical story of the great King Henry V and his impossible victory at the battle of Agincourt, not too far from where they are now. Focused on the idea of myth, this production explores what it means to fight for your country. Using the aesthetics of the time, from music hall to Dadaism, the play discusses the ideas of nation, patriotism and nationalism and mediates upon the old idea that ?dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.
