I Am & Under The Covers (Double Bill)

Under the Covers - Directed by Stacy Makishi, and developed through workshops with artists including Amy and Rosana Cade, Under The Covers examines young people's contemporary attitudes to sex, questioning myths and breaking down taboos. It is inspired by the current Wellcome Collection exhibition The Institute of Sexology, and the recent National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles. Contact Young Company is a renowned young ensemble, made up of performers, actors, dancers, musicians, poets and MCs. Each year they create brand new professional standard shows in collaboration with national and international artists such as Forced Entertainment, Lies Pauwels and Grupo XIX de Teatro. There will be a post show discussion with the company after the show.
I Am - Created by Homegrown Company in collaboration with Peter McMaster. A collection of curtain raising performances, designed to disrupt and explode commonly held beliefs about what it's like to be considered a 'young' person. With capacities to be honest, to feel, to be aware, to shout loud, to be radically engaged, energized, excited and opinionated, these young people claim their own identities in an attempt to stop others doing so for them.
