She feels Edgar will be the perfect subject for a piece about spiritualism. Edgar is cautious, but the payment Amanda offers persuades him to talk. As Edgar tells her the story of his life, she becomes aware that a frightening force has reached Edgar before she has and will use him to unearth her own terrible secret. The mismatched pair soon realise why they have been drawn together. As they discover the importance of the decisions they will make during the long dark night, an eerie image of a small boy appears in the mottled mirror above Edgar's fireplace - slowly growing stronger... and getting angrier...
