Lettice is a tour guide at a stately home, but she finds the history boring and, being the daughter of a great actor, decides to make up some more interesting stories to tell the visitors. However, for this invention she loses her job - however, the starchy Trust Officer gets drawn into her world of fantasy and they start re-enacting history. Then there is an attempted murder enquiry due to an accident during the beheading of Mary Queen of Scots!
