Money archiveEdward Bulwer-Lytton's comedy of manners, written in 1840. Alfred Evelyn, a poor young man, is surprisingly bequeathed a fortune and suddenly finds that those who previously despised him are now his closest friends. Furthermore, he is even being offered the hand of the daughter of Sir John Vesey, his previous employer who is otherwise know as Stingy Jack.
