Very Pleasant - 3 July 1937 - writer Christopher Isherwood takes his friend, the composer Benjamin Britten, then just 24, to the Jermyn Street Bathhouse to get drunk and have fun. There they meet Isherwood's old friend, the poet W H Auden. Based on Britten's diaries, this is a glimpse into the friends' relationship and experiences of London's pre-war gay underworld. Very Pleasant Sensations celebrates the centenary of Britten's birth. White Rose - During World War II Russia was the only country to allow female fighter pilots to engage in battle. White Rose tells the true story of ?Double Ace' Lily Litvak, the first woman to shoot down another plane, and the battles she had on the ground to win the respect of the men in command. Seeking refuge in a pub basement they plot their escape, only to find themselves locked in a battle with the pub landlord over their dead father's sordid legacy. The Freedom of the City - During a peaceful demonstration three civilians find themselves trapped in the Londonderry Mayor's office. Outside, the world uses their plight to paint them as terrorists or martyrs. Inspired by true events, Brian Friel's 1973 classic is still potent, especially in the light of the 2010 Saville Inquiry which declared the Bloody Sunday shootings unjustifiable.
