The story of eccentric American-born Bessie Levinson, As she sits on a park bench in Russell Square Park, London, she tells her story to young Charlie Hampton. It is also about Father Frank McAllister, an Irish priest, who happens to be strolling through the park with his young niece, Julie. Their stories are similar and as memories unfold, a love affair develops then ends.
