My Brother's Keeper
T02046888348
During the hard years of the Taliban, one thing kept the Jewish community of Afghanistan together. They both hated each other. Based on a true story. A religious farce about Menorahs, Menorahs and the price of carpets.
My Brother's Keeper is an acerbic black comedy of religious intolerance, with only one religion. In a dilapidated old synagogue in Kabul during the final days of the Taliban regime, Yitzhak Levy and Zebolun Simanto are locked in a bitter squabble. They hurl insults at each other day and night, hold separate religious ceremonies and even denounce each other to the Taliban as Mossad spies.
