Mary Bloom's Soliloquy in James Joyce's Ulysses. The character of Molly is split between actress and mezzo-soprano accompanied by live clarinet and cello. The four female performers each play an element of Molly Bloom. The actress is the central focus, the conscious Molly, delivering the core of the text, she is the conscious; the singer is a direct link to Molly's thoughts - her subconscious. The clarinet and cello connect the two providing the link between her conscious and unconscious mind.
