Place to Be
T735514152
We send four writers to write a piece that responds to a Place. Beginning from whatever they find, these singular stories are woven together in one play in one place and time. We want writers to broaden horizons, explore new perspectives and be out in the world, so we ask to visit a particular location (in this case The Laundrette, The Salon and The Gym) interact with that space, meet the people who inhabit it and take a journalistic approach to their writing. Although not an exercise in Verbatim (we also do not use real names or any obvious identifiers) this project is founded on the idea that even the most under-valued of places is rich in character and story. The result is a unique, often funny, perception-shifting portrait of a diverse community of people who may have nothing in common other than they are all collected under the same roof. In short, Place to Be to re-imagining the possibilities for a scratch night.
