The American Dream has clearly forgotten the New York 'dive bar' in which Scotch and Water takes place. Non-stop, oversize measures of Scotch ease the desperation of the regulars, who hide their pain with wisecracks and the batting orders of last century's baseball teams. The eruption of gun-toting, clumsy Danny into their world, sparks off a train of events that leads to a warped redemption.
