The Union Theatre has been working in conjunction with New York Theatre, The Secret Theatre, in order to bring scripts from the Big Apple to London. The Union will now mount a production that showcases a selection of new comedy writers from Britain and America. An evening of laughter !! The Secret Theatre recently, ran a playwriting competition for short scripts, with the winning script and the runner-up being given a London run at The Union Theatre. Directed by Jacqui Somerville ‘The True Story’ by Kirsten Anderson New York Runner - UP "Truth is stranger than fiction"--except when it isn't. A serious-minded company of actors, dedicated to speaking out for "the little people," heads off to a small Pennsylvania town to interview the residents and get the "true story" about a large corporation's coldhearted efforts to remove a beloved old tree. However, the facts turn out to be less dramatic than expected. Will the actors tell the true story, as they promised? Or will they be unable to resist the classic actor's temptation to show off in front of a live audience...and an agent? Directed by Katherine Hare.
