Soldiering On - Newly bereaved but stoical Muriel confronts the future and finds that her husband was less than an ideal father and her beloved son is less than honest.
A Chip in the Sugar - Middle-aged bachelor Graham lives with his eccentric mother. Their happy life is threatened by the arrival of an old flame from his mother's past, who sweeps her off for days out and chip suppers.
A Cream Cracker Under the Settee - Obsessive about cleaning, Doris has tidied her husband into the grave and is dismayed by her home help's lack of vacuuming skills.
