A young woman arrives at your door. Raped and beaten, in fear for life, she's desperate for someone to help her. Do you turn her away? Then more women, men trying to keep their families together, children, babies some of them. Human contraband. You can't turn them away. 71,160 people sought asylum at Britain's door last year. Fleeing wars and oppression many found themselves immediately imprisoned. They may wait months to discover what will happen to them. Do these numbers desensitise us, do we have less understanding of thousands than we do of one? Inspired by specially collected testimony, this new production seeks to investigate the phenomenon of asylum; incorporating improvisation and tackling attitudes to these issues which feature daily in the British press.
