The Bride and the Butterfly Hunter
T1498339856
Mee, a runaway bride, encounters Gets, an insurance clerk, whose secret passion is hunting butterflies he will never catch. They meet in a corner of a public park, whose lyrical solitude is invaded by the voice of a public announcer, (who sends his messages through a loudspeaker), reminding the citizens of their duties to father, mother, society and the state. This one-act play, inspired by a painting by Yosl Bergner, was written in the 60s by Nissim Aloni, one of the most outstanding and innovative of contemporary Hebrew-language playwrights.
