The Busybody

T1318595654
Take two young women of "marriageable age", two young men interested in these two young women, and two parents determined to keep the young men well away from the young women. Add two servants full of cunning plans and one busybody. The result is a restoration comedy full of witty dialogue and lively action

Production details

Rehearsed Reading. In this remarkable writer’s most successful play, Miranda and Isabinda are plotting to escape the suitors their parents have chosen for them, in favour of their own choices. With the help of their faithful servants Patch and Whisper (who, meanwhile, have plans of their own), they plan to keep the parents fooled until the wedding bells ring out. Unfortunately, they are not counting on Marplot who is always trying to help – but without much success. Restoring the Repertoire
