The FoulPlay Fantastic FoxHunt

T01619886319
Fringe favourites FoulPlay Productions ("The Devil, Chess; A Burlesque!" 5 stars Fringe Review "The Office of Correspondence" 5 stars Three Weeks "Epoch!" Argus top Ten Shows to see 2009), return to the streets of Brighton to steal, stalk and hunt with a Fantastic Fox Hunt. Human foxes steal swag from rubber chicken, sausage and cider farmers whilst being chased by teams of Hunters and Hounds who are after their fox-fur tails. A Bookie and a Butcher run proceedings from a stall in the New Road, taking bets, chalking scores and dealing goods, whilst umpires marshal the game. Participants enter as teams in this live role-play game, dressed accordingly with FoulPlay costume and properties, The general public of Brighton are entertained by the theatre of: the chase, the heist, the humour and by the macabre FoulPlay characters strewn about the streets that they might meet incidentally.

Production details

Beyond the silly playfulness of the event, FoulPlay are making this spectacle to help people re-engage with their public spaces, using theatre and play as a catalyst for reclaiming areas of towns and cities so often saturated with commerce and financial institutions. We expect that creating a Fox Hunt is going to touch a nerve as the issue divides this divided nation, and the very notion of division dictates our creations as a company. We hope to run the show in different towns and cities across the country expecting hugely different responses depending on the local countryside allegiances. This event takes place at Brighton Fringe, New Road/Pavilion Gardens venue 303
