A story of spurned lovers, heroic noblemen, beautiful women and comic servants bound together by the dramatic force of carnival, portentous vision, murder and dark magic. Lope de Vega was the most innovative and prolific writer of the Spanish Golden Age. Commonly referred to as the Spanish Shakespeare, The Gentleman from Olmedo is considered to be one of his masterpieces.
