The Good Earth archive"They'll have to drag me and my family kicking and screaming from this house." In 1979, the villagers of Troedrhiwgwair, near Tredegar, were ordered by the local council to leave their homes, as the mountain behind the village was expected to slide at any moment. A handful of villagers dug in and refused to move, creating enemies of the council, their friends and neighbours who moved down the valley to safety. The Good Earth is the explosive story of the families whose homes and mountain was everything to them, and fought for 20 years to defend their homes from outsiders, intellectuals and politicians.
