Once there was Pangaea, now we have a broken world. This is the Language of unity. Theatre meets spoken word.
This Language is a fresh and intricate piece of new writing that blends social realism with spoken word poetry. Over the past 60 years, there has been a ground-breaking increase in cultural diversity throughout Britain. This has resulted in the urge to achieve equality through cultural preservation. But in a rapidly changing society, the living culture of Britain is hard to define. Spanning three years, ?This Language' follows a group of students from different corners of the globe thrown together into the melting pot of contemporary multiculturalism. The journey of the play is as broad as these characters, from comedy to drama, provocative cultural interrogations interweaved with the delicate nuance of poetic text. Can a universal language such as music transcend cultural identity within a racially diverse university lifestyle?
This Language is the flagship project for Pangaean Productions, a theatre company comprised of graduating Actors, Stage managers and Lighting and sound designers from Rose Bruford College. Pangean productions aims to create exciting, innovative theatre that is relevant to today's political and social climate whilst being accessible to a diverse audience.
