Written in Water archiveWritten in Water tells the poignant story of the short life of John Keats, poet of The Ode to a Nightingale, and To Autumn. All through his life, Keats strove against the odds to let his genius flourish, but he always met the merely human. Nevertheless he left us sparks of divinity in his verse. The play tells how Keats lost his father and mother, and though he had to bring up three brothers and sisters, his desire to be a poet remained undimmed. This poet was no airy fairy Romantic... he learned the lesson of life from the school of hard knocks. The play tells the story imaginatively through words movement and song - and poems too!
