Details

Former Poet Laureate. New poems, specially commissioned by the Ustinov and the Maggini Quartet, interspersed between the movements of the Quartet no 7 by current Master of the Queen’s Music, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. This prestigious World Premiere by Andrew Motion is a response to the Maxwell Davies Quartet no. 7 - which in turn was inspired by the Italian baroque architect Borromini. Some of Rome’s most cherished churches came from Borromini’s inventive imagination, his work halted only by his suicide in 1667. Peter Maxwell Davies’s Quartet no.7 was written especially for the Gramophone Award-winning Maggini Quartet. Andrew Motion website.
